You Owe Me Satisfaction is the placeholder name of an unidentified Italo Disco song, orginally recorded from Italian TV Channel 'Nuova Televisione' (NTV) in 1985 and first posted online in 2019.
On 05 March 2019, Marco Soverini posted a YouTube video titled "Bloopers, litigi televisivi vintage quelli della notte 1986". It was a compilation of clips from various Italian TV channels. You Owe Me Satisfaction featured in the final clip. In the video description, he said that the two guys dancing at the made him laugh too much, which is why he left them in the compilation. He did not know who they were.
Between April 2019 and and April 2021, OP would upload two other videos featuring the song, adding no further information other than acknowledging that he found them funny.
On 03 December 2021, OP uploaded an extended version of the recording titled "ITALO DISCO 1985 DISCO MUSIC Bologna 1985 unknow duo NTV nuovatelevisione Bologna". In the description, OP tagged the performing duo as "Le Giacchette Volanti" (English: "The Flying Jackets"). OP later confirmed that this was a placeholder name they had made up.
OP added some additional information in a YouTube comment, explaining that the footage was captured during his early experiments with VHS recording and was never intended to be preserved. OP also stated that they were certain the recording was from 1985, due to the VHS being labelled as that year.
In April 2025, user SlipKinny suggested "Scala a Chiocciola" (English: "Spiral Staircase"), a program that aired on NTV from 01 November 1983 to 31 March 1985, as a potential origin of the clip. The show was hosted by Gilberto Rivelli and Marco Macchiavelli, and was supported by a visible spiral staircase in the OPs recording. This was later debunked on 11 September 2025, when footage of the proposed show was found that did not match the set in the OPs recording. Scala a Chiocciola was also found to be a commercial teleshopping program - an unlikely destination for musical performances.
On 21 May 2025, Discord user 'some random account' found archival records related to NTV, carried out by Sara Verrini and Federica Cavina. They contacted Cavina, who confirmed that she was originally involved in the archival work but was no longer associated with the archive. Enrico Pontieri, the manager of the Gramsci Foundation archives, was also contacted. Pontieri confirmed that they were in possession of the NTV archives, but also said that finding any specific song information would not be possible.
On 24 August 2025, OP published a restored version of the recording titled "ITALO DISCO 1985 DISCO MUSIC Bologna 1985 unknow duo NTV nuovatelevisione Bologna ( restored)". OP then confirmed that their VHS tapes are arranged in chronological order, and the one following this recording is dated March 1985. Based on this, they estimated that the recording took place sometime between February and March of 1985.
On 10 October 2025, Discord user 'slothereen' visited the Gramsci Foundation and the Cineteca di Bologna. They examined 4 out of the 24 folders from the NTV archive, photographing approximately 200 pages of potentially relevant material. The archive only contained daily programming schedules and no details on specific show guests. However, 'slothereen' did compile a list of 60 former NTV employees who could be contacted for more information, and a list of the most likely programs that the duo might have appeared on. It was also confirmed that the NTV tapes held at the Cineteca di Bologna were in U-MATIC format, some of which have been digitized. Access to these tapes may be possible pending contact with the archive manager.
On 07 January 2026, the Cineteca di Bologna was contacted again to request an in-person appointment to examine the NTV tape archives. However, they responded stating that they could not assist at present, as only a small portion of the NTV archive had been digitised and made accessible, with priority being given to news and report material rather than music. They said that inventory activities should resume in 2026 and suggested contacting again after the summer, as the process of digitisation is slow.
